Garden Game Devlog #0: [Seedy Beginnings]

Hey y'all, NickNack Programming here,

Today I completed the first build of a game I've been working on recently. Currently the game does not have a name and I am referring to it as Garden Game but this will be changed at some point in the future.

|Current Mechanics|

So far I have 4 types of flowers in the game, Alliums, Foxgloves, Tulips, and Crocus, all under the spring category, with other seasons and plants planned for future updates. The shop button is a blank white button but when pressed opens a screen with a button for each season, and a set of buttons for each season to buy seeds. Only the aforementioned buttons work. A panel will appear when any of the shelves is clicked that has 2 plus buttons corresponding to the two sides of the shelf. The plus buttons open a panel where you can select which type of seeds to plant. Then you press the plant button and a pot with seeds will appear on the shelf. When a shelf with plants on it is clicked, the plus button will instead have a picture of the plant on the corresponding side of the shelf. This opens a panel with information about the plant and an option to water the plant. The watering panel has a bar that fills when you hold a button and when the bar is filled the water level goes up by one. The plants have ascending water level by price but this will be changed in the future. The final piece is a button to move to the next day which grows up plants that got the correct water level, and damages plants that didn't. That's about it for the current mechanics but feel free to try the prototype out on the games main page.

|Future Plans|

I have a lot planned for future updates, but the big ones are selling plants, more plants, season, and garden upgrades. A storyline might be implemented at some point but for the time being I am working on the gameplay itself. I would like selling plants to work in an order like system. This would work where you get orders with time limits, and certain flowers, and you need to fulfill the order with plants from your garden. This will be the main source of revenue for the player. I also want to add seasons which have a set amount of days in them. During a season either the seasonal plants will get boosts, or you will need certain conditions and upgrades to grow non seasonal plants, I haven't decided which yet. And finally garden upgrades , which would include things like irrigation systems and light sources, and more growing space, all to make gardening easier and more efficient.

Anyway that's about it for the first devlog of my new game, and I'm going to be working on it as much as I can to bring you more content and releases in the coming devlogs.

Peace, NickNack
