Clothing Store Game Devlog #1: First build

Hey guys,

Wanted to share the first build of a new game I have been working on. I am trying not to look too far into the future on mechanics to avoid scope creep, but the long term goal is an in-depth management game about running a clothing store, and eventually company.

Before I could start implementing any cool management features I needed a basic game loop to ensure I had something to build off of. The first build is just this. It features the absolute most bare-bones gameplay loop consisting of building racks, loading them with clothes, and ordering more clothes. There is a working time system with the option to speed up time or slow it down, along with a day system with your orders arriving at the end of the day. So far only one clothing item, a white shirt, more to come later.

(I know the art is bad I threw together some basic art quickly so that I could get to programming asap)

The way I went about programming shipments, I know it will be a problem later and is already not very intuitive so I will be reworking that as soon as I can. Other than that some known issues include customers sitting by the door and taking clothes off racks across the room if there is not an open space by the rack. I will be fixing this soon hopefully as well, but would like to get into some fun features and content additions as well.

Attached are some screenshots from the first build, showcasing what little I have done so far. I have pretty basic UI right now but it's clean and gets the job done.

Anyway that about covers the first build and will be updating shortly with progress!

Have a great day,

NickNack
